C'mon, Alert Overcoming Injuries that Often Occur in Children

Mother was in the kitchen for a while, but suddenly the sound of Little One crying loudly because of falling. In addition to immediately checking his condition, Mother needs to know how to immediately handle it. It's okay if your little one is actively running to and fro, climbing, jumping, reaching for any objects around him. But so as not to panic to deal with it, in addition to keeping furniture and homes safe, Mother also needs to be prepared to handle injuries that may be experienced by your child at any time.

Handle Injuries Right

When an injury occurs, Mother needs to be alert to immediately alleviate the pain experienced by the Little One. If the injury is quite serious, you need to understand what temporary help you can do, until your child is treated by a doctor. Below are some conditions that are often experienced by children and need to be treated immediately:
  • Bruises

  • Place cold compresses on the bruised part. To compress, you can use ice cube cloth coated or in a compress pack. You need to take your child to the doctor if the affected area is large, swollen, or continues to hurt.
  • Nosebleed

  • When the child has a nosebleed, ask the child to bow his head slightly forward, then pinch his nose, just below the nose bone. Hold and coat your hands with a towel for 10-15 minutes to absorb the residual bleeding. It takes a while for the nosebleeds to stop. No need to clog your nose with tissue or cotton. Do not let the child lean backwards. This position can make the blood enter the esophagus and swallowed, so it will likely make him want to vomit. In addition, blowing your nose or exhaling too tightly through your nose can also cause a nosebleed to occur again. Therefore, tell your child not to do this for several hours. Immediately bring your child to the Emergency Department (IGD), if in a half hour the nosebleeds do not stop, or if you think the bleeding is not caused by a nosebleed, but because of a broken nose.
  • Broken or dated teeth

  • When a tooth is broken or dated, you should take your child to the dentist or hospital. If it is permanent teeth, if possible, place the teeth back in the gums where they grow. If this is not possible, you can keep it in a closed container that is saliva or milk. Stop the bleeding by asking the child to bite the gauze or cotton ball on the loose tooth.
  • Bloody wound

  • A bleeding wound is serious if the blood does not stop, even after a few minutes of pressure. Clean the wound with running water, make sure the water quality is really clean. If you are not sure, you can use bottled mineral water. Avoid cleaning the wound with alcohol, antiseptics, or hydrogen peroxide. Apart from being painful, this material can make the wound heal slowly due to irritation. If blood is still flowing after bandaging, press the wound for 15 minutes while keeping the injured part higher than the body, so the bleeding stops. However, Mother needs to immediately take him to the emergency room if the bleeding does not stop more than 15 minutes, accompanied by a broken bone, or if the wound is so severe that it appears under the skin tissue.
  • Head injury

  • Non-severe head injuries, such as stumbling, can be treated by compressing the injured part with a bag of ice wrapped in a towel. Do not let the child immediately go back to playing. He needs to rest first, even if he has only a minor injury.
Immediately take the child to the hospital or emergency room if a head injury causes fainting, vomiting, confusion or anxiety, severe headaches, difficulty walking, drowsiness, neck pain, or tingling hands. In order to quickly deal with injuries, don't forget to provide a first-aid kit at home. After the child is injured, pay attention to his condition for at least 24 hours. Do not hesitate to take him to the nearest hospital or pediatrician immediately, if anything seems abnormal or if the child continues to complain of illness. It is expected that proper handling of injuries to the Little One, will make his condition heal faster.
